ICODA PROGRAMS - ICODA+Dance = Icodan

ICODA + dance is Icodance, one of the few professional dance companies in the nation to feature dancers who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing performing together.

All of our classes are taught using Total Communication. Why we’re different:
Because many of our dancers cannot hear music, Icodance uses interpreted song and dance, which is a translation of popular songs into American Sign Language.

Interpreted song and dance is more than a series of movements executed by the body of a dancer – it is a blending of music, motion and language.  This unique method of expression is considered one of the most compelling elements of the program.

THE PROFESSIONAL COMPANY
Icodance produces one dance concert each year.  This program of interpreted song and original Icodance choreography includes ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop and tap set to music of yesterday and today.

Company members are chosen by audition only.

THE DANCE STUDIO
The Artistic Director and guest instructors teach classes year-round.  Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop and Tap classes are offered.  Drop-in classes are also held weekly.  Click here to see the Class Schedule.

These classes are open to children & adults who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing.  All classes are taught in American Sign Language and Spoken English.
